The storm Bodil leads to record-high waterlevels near DTU Risø Campus

The October storm over Denmark was short, but hectic with winds up to hurricane, while the recent storm Bodil in many ways was a typical Danish autumn storm. But Bodil also had some serious punch with winds, see below.

Stormen Bodil

Oktoberstorm 2013 ved Risø

Storm 5.-6. December 2013 at Risø/Roskilde Fjord

Storm 28. October 2013 at Risø/Roskilde Fjord

At one point Bodil beat all former storms. Bodils duration and gust direction has pushed record amounts of water into the Isefjord and Roskilde Fjord, and the water levels haven't been higher, with expected two meters or more above normal water level tonight. See below DMI.

Vandstand Roskilde 6 dec 2013The former record of 1,5 meters above normal sealevel are expected to be beaten.

The damages to buildings and surroundings at DTU Risø Campus have been light to moderate, but the record-high water levels can be seen several places. The photo above, , courtesy of Niels Michael Petersen and Lene Danielsen, shows the water at the small harbour at Risø.
